The Pettenkofer School of Public Health München will offer a program with workshops and podium discussion on public health topics in the morning. This will be followed by an official ceremony “25 Year of Public Health Education at the IBE” with a testimonial lecture by Professor Dr. Martin Paul, president of the University Maastricht, on the topic: “Max von Pettenkofer, Public Health and the Future of Medicine”.

20.06.2018

25 years ago, the first postrgraduate master’s program “Public Health and Epidemiology” was established by Professor Karl Überla (former director of the Institute for medical Information Processing, Biometry, and Epidemiology – IBE) at the LMU faculty of medicine. This master program was then transformed through the Bologna process into two separate master’s programs: Public Health and the international, English master’s program Master of Science in Epidemiology. Both programs have now been offered for a total of 10 years – since the winter semester 2008/2008 – at the IBE. Since then, more than 900 students have successfully finished the Public Health and Epidemiology programs.

To this occasion and in memory of Max von Pettenkofer (born on Dec. 4 1818), who is seen as the founder of the public health field, we cordially invite to this event, presented by the Pettenkofer School of Public Health München (PSPH)
