The application deadline for both master’s programs Epidemiology and Public Health for the winter semester 2019/2020 is on 15th May 2019. The written test will take place on Tuesday 4th June 2019, 11:00-12:30 in lecture hall III in the lecture hallway of Klinikum Großhadern (Marchioninistraße 15, 81377 München). The interviews are planned to take place between Monday, 24th June and Thursday 27th June 2019.

This two-week course, organised by Prof. Ulrich Mansmann (LMU - University of Munich) and Prof. Konstantin Strauch (LMU/Helmholtz Zentrum München) presents new paradigms in clinical and genetic epidemiology to further the understanding of complex diseases and treatment strategies. This course will also outline the use and misuse of biomarkers.

It was supported by the Epidemiology Education Group (Mansmann, Strahwald, Schlipköter) – founded 5 years ago – of the MSc program Epidemiology, the DGEpi, the GMDS and the “multiplier” project of the LMU. The conference was organized in cooperation with the Helmholtz Center (Helmholtz-Zentrum) for Infectious Diseases Research Braunschweig.

The Viewpoint "The need for a complex systems model of evidence for public health", which was recently published in the Journal "Lancet" was awarded the Presidents' Award of the European Society for Prevention Research (EUSPR) on the 22nd of September 2017. The „MeCuM Science” program will start in the winter semester 2016/17 with the first intensive course I1 „Basics!“ for medical students at the LMU. The goal of this federally funded project is to strengthen the scientific knowledge of prospective doctors. The MeCuM lectures will therefore focus on “Scientific work” and will be linked to a longitudinal, transparent scientific track which will span the entire medical education.
