The MeCum Science Curriculum offers three intensive Courses, I1 „Basics!“, I2 „Advanced!“ and I3 „Professional!“, to broaden the scientific knowledge of medical students. The two intensive courses, I1 and I2, were designed in cooperation with the Institute for Medical Education at the LMU. The lectures are offered in the MeCum L5 and L6 course range and are held from 9:00 to 18:00 o’clock. Students will study methods in evidence based medicine (EBM), basic epidemiology, biometry, and medical informatics.

While the theory of clinical examples are taught in the morning, the afternoon is all about „hands-on“ experience! Students can choose from different electives based on their interests and prior knowledge. These courses provide the possibility for students to work through the contents of that day’s lecture in small groups to further deepen their knowledge in the topics. Students will learn to independently find evidence to medical questions, analyze data sets with SPSS or practice online coding using ICD-10 and OPS and learn to determine per case flat rates (Fallpauschalen)

The number of participants for the electives are limited. All MeCuM students must register for the courses through “OpenCampus”.

The new MeCuM Sciences intensive course „Basics!“ will already begin in the winter semester 2016/2017. The introduction of the intensive course I2 „Advanced!“ will follow in the summer semester 2017!
