“Mapping Academic Themes and Collaborative Horizons for Global Health Research at Stellenbosch University & LMU”
05.11.2025
28–29 October 2025, LMU Munich
On 28 and 29 October 2025, researchers from Stellenbosch University, South Africa, and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich met at the LMU for the MATCH 2025 Workshop. The event aimed to develop the foundation for future collaboration between the Departments of Global Health and SACEMA at Stellenbosch University and the Institute of Medical Information Processing, Biometry and Epidemiology (IBE), Faculty of Medicine, and the Department of Statistics at LMU Munich.
Over two days, participants engaged in discussions and presentations to identify shared thematic interests and methodological approaches that could form the basis of future joint research and teaching initiatives. The workshop provided a platform to exchange perspectives on global health challenges, data-driven methodologies, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Beyond research collaboration, the participants also discussed opportunities for student exchange programs and jointly organized summer schools, aiming to foster academic mobility, early-career researcher development, and intercultural learning between both institutions.
The outcomes of the workshop will guide the development of collaborative research proposals and academic exchange activities between Stellenbosch University and LMU Munich in the field of global health research.
