Winter semester 2020/21: Opening ceremony with Alfredo Morabia

The traditional opening ceremony at the start of the winter semester for new students of the master's programmes M.Sc. Epidemiology and M.Sc. Public Health will take place on Monday, November 2nd.

The event begins at 2 p.m. Due to the current Sars-CoV-2 pandemic, it will be held in virtual form for the first time.The ceremony ends at 3.30 p.m.

The Pettenkofer School of Public Health is very honored that Alfredo Morabia will give the keynote speech at the opening ceremony. Alfredo Morabia is a profound expert on the history of Max von Pettenkofer and his impact on Munich and the world. The topic of the speech will be:

"Covid-19: time to reinvent public health (and why Munich should show the way)"

Alfredo_Morabia


Alfredo Morabia is currently professor of epidemiology at the Barry Commoner Center for Health and the Environment at Queens College, City University of New York. He lectures and teaches on the history of epidemiology internationally and also serves as the Editor in Chief of the American Journal of Public Health. Morabia is also editor of "Epidemiology in History" in the American Journal of Epidemiology.
