MobilE-PRO
Munich Network for Health Care Research: Project MobilE-PRO
MobilE-PRO: Outcome based support of treatment decisions
Sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF)
Sponsored Period: 2017 – 2020
The project, located at the German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München (Prof. Dr. Reiner Leidl) and the Department of Health Services Management at LMU Munich (Prof. Dr. Leonie Sundmacher), aims to investigate the feasibility of collecting and using patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in older adults with osteoarthritis (OA) in the outpatient sector.
In the face of a growing elderly population active healthy ageing for a significant share will depend upon health outcomes following hip and knee replacement (THR/TKR). In order to reach an informed decision early in the clinical pathway about whether to undergo surgery, precise information on expected health outcomes and related satisfaction thresholds are essential. We analyze the variation of change in PROM scores before and after surgery. Thereby we aim to develop an innovative decision support tool for preoperative arthritis patients for shared decision making in daily practice and to support medical assessment and recommendation of the physician.
Our multicenter cohort study will be conducted together with the University Clinic Munich (Prof. Dr. Jansson/PD Dr. Weigl), the hospital Barmherzige Brüder (Prof. Dr. Plötz) and the Schön Kliniken (Homm/Bormann).
